There it is, matey! Straight ahead — the greenest grass I have ever seen.
Since I was young, I, like many other explorers, have been on a quest:
an expedition if you will — ISO the greenest grass in the world.
I’ve seen many types of grass, interestingly a lot of them are greener once I’ve moved on… but that’s besides the point BECAUSE — THIS grass, the one I see ahead, is going to change everything.
My current lawn is good. Can’t complain, really.
Buuuuuuuuuuut, maybe if we move cities just oneeeeee more time; I think then we’ll be happy and the lifelong quest will be over! Yippee!!
I open up my treasure map, the one guiding me to this beautiful new land just north from here.
And as I’m shuffling through the pages, I turn to some photographs from my previous destinations.
What?! No…. it couldn’t be. Why is it that these photographs are so beautiful?
Each one so unique, so brimming with life?
“But… but.. I thought the next destination was going to be my favorite. Why do these all look so charming?”
The parrot on my shoulder sighed, and softly responded:
“It’s difficult to see beauty in the present moment, but it’s not impossible. Take time to be grateful for what each day brings you. Otherwise you’ll spend your entire life thinking the grass is greener on the other side, when really, damnit, the grass is as god damn green as we give it credit to be.”
I put my map down slowly, dropped the anchor, and cancelled the mission.
“……….We’re home.”
