Since I started working, I’ve been making Fridays an excuse for silly and cute little things. Giant breakfast burrito for dinner? Friday. Pastel pink underwear? Friday. It feels festive and yet small and flexible enough that it is celebrating the end of the work week with little pockets of joy.
On the Lunar New Year, my manager gave us each scratchers. I actually won something: Another ticket. I didn’t win on the second ticket. However, it birthed a tradition. A Friday tradition, nonetheless.
Today I went to the liquor store and purchased a $1 scratcher, same type that she got us. I had a good feeling about it. Un-tempted by the once oh so addictive alcohol bottles in the store, I opted for some salsa and gum instead, and left with my scratcher.
Upon scratching the first three, I already had a match of two! I continued onto the next row, and scratched three $10’s. Not bad for kicking off the new tradition. I ended up going straight back to claim my ten.
Not sure what I’m gonna do with the ten, but heck, how fun.
